The mission of this church is to make lifetime followers of Jesus Christ. Our family of faith welcomes those who wish to join us in this exciting, corporate venture of faith. Members are received into our church in the following ways:
By Profession of Faith - For people making a first-time public commitment to Jesus Christ. If you wish to join by profession of faith and have never been baptized, please contact the Rev. Wes Kelley at 334.793.3555 x240 or by email at email@example.com
By Restoration of Faith - For people who are renewing their commitment to Jesus Christ.
By Transfer from another United Methodist Church - For people who are moving their church membership from another United Methodist Church.
By Transfer from another Denomination - For people who are moving their church membership from another Christian denomination.
Confirmation Classes are held each year for youth 6th grade and above. Please contact Rev. Lynn Nesbitt at 334.793.3555 x247 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Those wishing to become members of the church are encouraged to contact one of the pastors prior to coming forward in a worship service. In each pew in the Sanctuary or welcome table in the Fellowship Hall, you will find a small card, "Wish to Join." Just fill out this card and bring it with you as you come forward at the end of a worship service. The basic membership question asked of all perspective members is “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church, and this local congregation, by upholding it with your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?”
As members of First United Methodist Church we encourage each other:
- to worship regularly
- to continue to grow spiritually with a vibrant devotional life
- to become active in a Sunday school class or small group for fellowship with the Body of believers
- to serve God
- to uphold the church with our financial gifts as a thankful response for all that God has given to us
- to invite others into a relationship with Jesus Christ and others at First United Methodist Church
- to pray for the church and the ministers of the church
